Updates Involving Brave and Uphold

Here’s another short entry, although this time it’s going to be a brief follow-up regarding my attempts to get help from both Brave Support and the Uphold Team.

I’m Back On Brave!

I kid you not, but less than 30 minutes after my post on why I stopped using Brave went up, Brave Support actually reached out to me and were receptive to my issue.

Brave Support investigated why my domain wasn’t adding, and they even tried reaching out to see if they could contact me by phone for additional support. After trying once more on a whim, I got past the infuriating Server Error 500 screen and got to the verification steps!

However, I initially had trouble for days trying to get my DNS record to verify. I had no other choice considering I don’t have direct server access to my site (the easier verification method to download a file was a nonstarter), but after three days, I continuously failed to verify my DNS.

When I reached out to my DNS and domain’s support, the chat bot linked me to an article mentioning what I knew, but also featuring a small, but MAJOR step I had skipped. Upon addressing my mistake, I was finally able to verify this site as a channel successfully.

Just like that, I’m now back on Brave! I set it as my default again, and I’m making final edits to this short post within the browser itself.

Uphold Did Poorly (At First)

Uphold got in touch with me late last night after I was already asleep in bed. The email was dated to almost 1 AM in my time zone.

That means Uphold took 13 days to finally do something.

The update to the support ticket told me to use the app and finish my verification there. Despite my desire to use Gemini instead of Uphold, some part of me wanted to not leave business unfinished, so I decided to go along and complete the verification steps. As I expected from any modern crypto app, it asked for way too much information (thanks to KYC policies). While I’m not a fan, there’s not much I can do about it.

Things looked up… until the minute I finished. I received another email telling me my account was flagged for review AGAIN. The email offered hollow words (emphasis mine):

Your account has been flagged for review. Don’t worry, flags can be triggered for lots of reasons and most are resolved very quickly.

Apparently, Uphold’s idea of “very quickly,” is a day short of a fortnight.

As a result, while I can actually do a few things inside of the Uphold app, I’m not able to do anything that matters. That means no deposits, invites, receiving, sending, trades, or withdrawals.

While Uphold may take their sweet time to answer support tickets, they sure know how to false flag accounts faster than humans can blink.

I might make another brief update on this in the future depending on when the Uphold Team gets back to me. At this rate, I might have a fully-enabled Uphold account by the year 2055. If/when I do have an update, it will likely be just another short post much like this one.

UPDATE: I wish this were a joke, but the Uphold team actually got back to me a few hours after this post went up. They finally lifted all of the restrictions on my account and now I’m good to go. I know I said I would do another separate post with an update eventually, but I was expecting that to be a few more weeks from now, so good on Uphold for actually getting their act together.
